Orton-Gillingham Classroom Educator Course (Level 1)

The Orton-Gillingham (OG) Classroom Educator Course provides educators with a comprehensive foundation in multisensory, structured literacy instruction. Designed for teachers and specialists working with students in K–5 classrooms and small-group settings, this course equips participants with the essential tools to teach reading effectively to all learners, including those with dyslexia.

This course follows the guidelines set by the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA) and meets the coursework requirements for the Classroom Educator certification.

Course Overview

 The Classroom Educator 30-hour course provides in-depth training in the Orton-Gillingham Approach, structured literacy principles, and the foundations of the English language. Participants will learn how to implement OG strategies effectively within a classroom or small group setting.

Who Should Take This Course?

This training is ideal for:

• Individuals pursuing Classroom Educator certification through the OGA

Course Expectations

To receive a course certificate, participants must attend all class sessions in their entirety. If a participant is not able to attend all course sessions, they will need to make up their hours at a future course in order to receive their certificate, and be eligible to enroll in the practicum.
